Mime farce (pantomime) in two scenes.
Libretto by Gregorio Martínez Sierra based on Pedro Antonio de Alarcón's novel, "The Three-cornered Hat", with music by Manuel de Falla.
This early 20th century iconic Spanish work premièred at the Gregorio Martínez Sierra Art Theatre, an avant-garde project of the Eslava Theatre, Madrid (1916-1925).
It revives the pantomime genre, a form of expression that played a fundamental role in the evolution of Europe’s most experimental theatre in the early 20th century. It also had a major influence on other genres, including Zarzuela.
