10ª International Little Opera Festival - Zamora (Spain)

Under the title "The Duel," the 10th International Little Opera Festival presents in modern times the competition organized in 1786 by Joseph II, the Emperor, in the Orangerie Gardens at Schönbrunn Palace.

The occasion pitted the tradition and weight of Italian opera against German opera. Mozart was the other guest composer, presenting a singspiel called "Der SchauspielDirektor." The outcome of this duel once again consecrated both composers.

The rest is history.
